Ilona Maher will grow women’s rugby – Scarratt

Scarratt could face Maher when her side play the Bears on 1 February.

Since Maher signed up, the derby between Bristol and Gloucester has been moved to a larger stadium to cope with ticket demand.

“I think what we have seen most recently and not just in rugby, is people follow people,” explained Scarratt.

“With the rush of social media they don’t necessarily tune into a team or country.

“So I think she is going to do amazing things just by being here.

“She already has done by bringing people from all over the world to our league.”
