Gotham is rarely a pleasant place to live whether you’re happily married or otherwise, and Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are learning that the comically hard way in their next season of adventures. Their solution? A one way ticket to Metropolis… just in time for a Brainiac invasion. Maybe the grass is greener, or it’s just the glow of kryptonite.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Today Max dropped our first extensive look at Harley Quinn‘s next season ahead of its launch on the streamer next month, giving us a glimpse of Harley and Ivy’s matrimonial bliss being only slightly dampened by the absolute chaos they’re experiencing around themselves as comic book characters who live in Gotham City. And so it’s on to the bright lights of another big city as the duo go Metropolis-bound.
Of course, some of the chaos that occurs is of Harley and Ivy’s own doing (and at least a few of their friends who come to visit their swanky Metropolis pad), but really, it’s mostly down to the fact that Superman’s city is just the same kind of chaos Gotham faces with a little less grime and shadow. We’ve swapped Batman’s rogues for Lex and Lena Luthor, the occasional Apokaliptan invasion with Braniac drones—but at least we get to hang with Lois Lane now, too? It’s a fun switch up on the show’s usual premise that lets it play with even more of the DC universe in that lovingly brusque style that has had us loving this show throughout its weird and wonderful life.
Fingers crossed a Metropolis re-location isn’t the last we’ll see of Harley and Ivy’s adventures—but we’re at least looking forward to getting just those when Harley Quinn season five premieres on Max January 16.
