Nayanthara aka the ‘Lady Superstar’ of Tamil cinema has spilled the beans on why she chose Jawan for her big Bollywood debut. The Atlee-directed blockbuster, which stormed the global box office in 2023, brought Nayanthara into the Hindi film industry spotlight for the first time.

She revealed that her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan played a huge role in her decision. The actress shared that Khan personally reached out to her, making her feel at ease about stepping into Bollywood.
Here’s What Nayanthara Said
Nayanthara shared, “I did Jawan only because I love Shah Rukh Khan Sir. He made me very comfortable. Shah Rukh sir spoke to me and he made sure that he made me very comfortable & because getting into Hindi cinema is something that I’ve not done in my entire career so when he spoke to me he made me very comfortable and I felt there’s so much love and respect for Shah Rukh sir and I think just for him.”
Nayanthara also expressed her gratitude towards director Atlee, who she referred to as a “little brother.” The actress has previously collaborated with Atlee on multiple successful projects in Tamil cinema and spoke fondly about their close working relationship.
“From his first film till Jawan, I think hardly one or two films I’ve not done with him. But most of the films I’ve done with him, and we have that kind of equation,” she said.
She went on to explain that her involvement in Jawan was purely for Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee. “For these two people, I mean Jawan was purely for Atlee and dear Shah Rukh sir,” she added.
