Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds has been getting in the holiday spirit as his Merc With a Mouth as of late. Deadpool has already saved Christmas one time, but he is now putting on the red and black suit for a good cause in real life. A holiday special may not be coming soon as many anticipated, but fans can still watch Deadpool get in the holiday spirit.

In a special video released on social media, Deadpool teams up with Kidpool on Santa’s sleigh to raise money for the SickKids foundation. To do so, they recruit former Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter, who does her iconic twirl, but does not put on the classic costume (as Deadpool puts it, probably because of DC’s lawyers). Reynolds posted the hilarious and heartwarming clip on X with the caption “Don’t need a lasso to say how thankful I am for @sickkids.” The foundation supports The Hospital for Sick Children, which is located in Ontario, Canada, so it’s clear why the cause is important for Reynolds and co.
Ever since Reynolds began suiting up again as Deadpool and posting behind-the-scenes pictures during the holiday season, many have speculated that a MCU holiday special was in the works. However, every indication so far points to Reynolds simply taking advantage of Deadpool & Wolverine‘s record-breaking success and starring in commercials as the anti-hero. Nevertheless, it is still nice to see Deadpool back sooner rather than later, especially since his future in the MCU is relatively uncertain.
Deadpool Returns for a Good Cause During the Holiday Season
While Deadpool & Wolverine proved that R-rated MCU movies are viable, it’s still unclear if a sequel is in the works or if Deadpool will headline his own film again. But if you ask Reynolds, he is perfectly fine with being a side character, too. It is widely expected that he will appear in the upcoming Avengers sequels in a supporting role. And that’s how he sees the future of Deadpool, instead of being the center of a film. His own words:
“I see Deadpool as a supporting character much more than he is a main…the center. We center him sometimes because that’s what they want, but you can’t center him unless you take everything away from him. You have to create a situation where he is so much the underdog, and I don’t think that I can do that again, so if he comes back it is going to be in someone else’s movie. Channing Tatum was so excited to play Gambit and I would happily be the fifth banana in his movie or anyone else’s.”
